This is a full-time and highly rewarding position for a dedicated Computer Science professional to join a vibrant academy in Leeds. The role will be expected to start ASAP (As Soon As Possible). The role involves teaching across the Key Stages, delivering a comprehensive and engaging curriculum that spans from foundational digital literacy to advanced programming concepts. The successful applicant will be integral to the department's success, contributing to curriculum development and upholding high standards of academic achievement and student conduct.
Job Responsibility:
Deliver Engaging Lessons: Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, stimulating Computer Science lessons across all key stages
Assess and Report: Accurately assess, monitor, record, and report on student progress, providing timely feedback
Curriculum Contribution: Actively contribute to the development and resourcing of the departmental curriculum
Maintain Standards: Enforce and maintain high expectations for student conduct and academic performance in line with academy policy
Professional Development: Participate fully in departmental meetings, training sessions, and school-wide Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
Implement Intervention: Provide effective feedback and implement intervention strategies to ensure all students achieve their potential
Pastoral Care: Act as a Tutor (form teacher), offering pastoral support and guidance to a designated group of students
Parental Engagement: Proactively engage with parents/carers regarding student progress and well-being
Resource Management: Ensure the safe and effective use of all IT equipment and classroom resources
School Community: Uphold the academy's values and actively contribute to the wider life of the school community
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification
Up-to-date knowledge of the current Computing curriculum and GCSE/BTEC exam specifications
Eligibility to work in the UK
Enhanced Child DBS on the updated service (Willingness to apply for one)
Deep knowledge and teaching capability in languages like Python, Java, or C#
Proven ability to create engaging schemes of work aligned with national standards (KS3/KS4)
Skill in adapting lessons to effectively meet the needs of all learners, including SEND and high-achievers
Competence in using student data to inform planning and implement targeted intervention strategies
Outstanding spoken skills for clearly explaining complex computational concepts
Expertise in designing and grading examinations and practical assessments for Computer Science
