Job Description:

The Comptroller plays a critical leadership role in stewarding the financial health and operational integrity of Victory Church and its related ministries. This person will oversee accounting operations, ensure compliance with financial policies and regulations, and provide accurate financial reporting to church leadership. This role serves at the intersection of finance, ministry stewardship, and operational excellence, helping ensure that the resources entrusted to the church are managed wisely to advance the mission.

Job Responsibility:

  • Maintain accurate financial records for Victory Church, Victory Christian Academy (VCA), and the Dream Center
  • Ensure compliance with church financial policies, GAAP standards, and applicable IRS regulations
  • Reconcile bank accounts and ensure the integrity of all financial data
  • Oversee the processing and recording of all contributions, tuition, fees, and other income
  • Manage both physical and remote bank deposits
  • Process and acknowledge non-cash contributions
  • Oversee registrations, leases, rent payments, and other income streams
  • Respond to questions regarding donor giving statements
  • Oversee accounts payable and expense reimbursement processes
  • Manage contractor payments and 1099 reporting
  • Provide regular financial and managerial reports to the CFO
  • Support budget owners with training, financial reporting, and analysis
  • Provide financial reports to outside agencies when needed
  • Lead, train, and support the Counting Team
  • Ensure accounting systems and processes operate efficiently
  • Ensure the department is appropriately resourced for current and future needs
  • Oversee preparation for the annual audit
  • Serve as the primary liaison with the external audit firm
  • Review draft financials for accuracy and completeness

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting preferred
  • Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and QuickBooks
  • Experience in nonprofit, ministry, or church environments is helpful but not required
