We are looking for a Compost Shift Supervisor at our Walker Compost Facility in Arthur, ON. Reporting directly to the Compost Site Supervisor, the incumbent oversees day-to-day site operations at our compost facility. The incumbent utilizes organization and problem-solving skills to plan work schedules and ensure the operation complies with health and safety and environmental legislation, policies and procedures. This is a permanent, full-time position on the afternoon shift. The afternoon shift runs Monday-Thursday, 3:00 pm-2:00 am.
Job Responsibility:
Communicates with Site Supervisor and Equipment Operators and other staff members, resolving concerns where possible and escalating to management where necessary
Keep notes and communicate staff attendance to Site Supervisor for the completion of payroll
Working with Site Supervisor to support the work order creation and implement work orders, taking into account employee requests and balancing operational needs
Liaises with customers, contractors, suppliers and partnerships as required to assist operational and sales personnel
Supports creation and updating of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) by supplying knowledge and field testing
Provides and supports training on Standard Operating Procedures and equipment operating. Working with company training support
Completes accident and incident reports and all follow up record keeping, reporting and actions
Participate in monthly Health and Safety meetings with operational staff, coaching employees on ways to work safely in order to prevent accidents
Schedules or conducts training to ensure staff compliance with Company policies and procedures for both Health and Safety and Environmental Performance regulations and programs
Requirements:
Minimum high school education with a college diploma preferred
3+ years of experience in the waste industry and/or construction industry or farming an asset
Experience with planning and overseeing the routine workload of a small team, providing constructive performance feedback
Demonstrated ability to pay close attention to details, makes sure work is done correctly and thoroughly. Keeps accurate records
Strong knowledge of health and safety, and environmental regulations
Must be comfortable using computers and Microsoft Office Suite, mainly Word, Excel and Outlook
Must have a valid G Class Ontario Driver’s License
