Job Description:

This position is for a Composites manufacturing engineer who will work in a highly integrated team within the Materials and Processes (M & P) Division.

Job Responsibility:

  • Work on the development of composite laminate systems in support of the design of the SLS spacecraft
  • Coordinate movement of materials and components through development and testing process
  • Work with a team of engineers and technicians to establish manufacturing techniques

Requirements:

  • Degree in science, technical, engineering, math, computer science or related field is required
  • Degree from an ABET accredited institution is preferred
  • Typically, educational requirement is a BS with 0 - 5 years of experience
  • Must be able to provide own transportation
  • Have demonstrated a very strong aptitude in major field
  • Specialized materials, robotics, or CAD knowledge is strongly preferred but not required
  • Experience with CREO/Pro-E is highly desired
  • General knowledge of composite manufacturing processes i.e. fiber placement, hand layup and filament winding
  • The ability to work well with a diverse and energetic team is required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required - comfortable talking with and interacting with others
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
  • Excellent research and organizational skills and attention to detail are required
  • Ability to receive instructions and work independently with minimal supervision is required
  • Candidate must possess a strong interest to understand the coordination, integration, and management of a highly skilled technical team
  • Independent thinking and teamwork skills are critical
  • Intellectual curiosity is also a must
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Power-Point, Excel, and Word is required
  • Individual must be highly motivated, flexible and willing to shift focus areas to meet volatile customer requirements
