Boeing Commercial Airplanes Materials & Processes (BCA M&P) is seeking an Composites Engineer (Experienced or Mid-Career)for the 787 Wing & Empennage Engineering Support Team in North Charleston, SC. As an M&P engineer, you will define engineering requirements to develop, select, or recommend parts, materials, processes, manufacturing technologies, machinery, tools, and automation systems used in product design and manufacturing in accordance with contractual and regulatory obligations. Additionally, you will qualify new materials, parts and processes to meet requirements and manage test and audit programs to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements. You will conduct analysis to characterize performance or determine reasons for failure of tools, materials, parts or processes to drive subsequent corrective or preventative actions. M&P engineers are responsible for using project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements while incorporating environmental health and safety, LEAN and Quality principles into (1) materials and processes, (2) research, design and qualification, (3) work procedures and (4) labs and office areas. We are hiring for multiple levels of Composites Engineers including Experienced (Level 2) or Mid-Career (Level 3) Composites Engineers.
Job Responsibility
Define engineering requirements to develop, select, or recommend parts, materials, processes, manufacturing technologies, machinery, tools, and automation systems
Qualify new materials, parts and processes to meet requirements and manage test and audit programs
Conduct analysis to characterize performance or determine reasons for failure of tools, materials, parts or processes
Use project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements
Engineering design review
Material and part qualification in-house and at suppliers
Engineering support to the production system
Requirements
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry
2+ years’ experience in Engineering and Manufacturing environment
2+ years’ experience interpreting engineering drawings and specifications related to composite materials
Nice to have
Experience with aerospace composites technology
Experience with composite part and/or material qualification
Experience with large scale composite manufacturing processes
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
