An MO4A repair technician is required to perform professional repair work involving considerable independence in approach, demanding a considerable degree of originality, ingenuity and judgment, and knowledge of more than one field of, or expertise (for example, acts as his/her organization’s technical reference authority) in a particular field of professional repair within your organization. This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit’s Commercial Business Units (“Spirit Commercial”). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing’s three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial’s core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.
Job Responsibility:
Perform professional repair work involving considerable independence in approach, demanding a considerable degree of originality, ingenuity and judgment, and knowledge of more than one field of, or expertise in a particular field of professional repair
Initiates or participates in both short-range and long-range planning, making independent decisions on repair policies and procedures within an overall program
Gives technical advice to management and operating departments
May take detailed technical responsibility for product development and provision of specialized engineering systems, facilities and functions
Coordinates work programs
Direct or advise on use of equipment and material
Fabricate, assemble, form and inspect composite parts, tools and assemblies
Makes responsible decisions not usually subject to technical review, decides courses of action necessary to expedite the successful accomplishment of assigned projects, and may make recommendations involving large sums or long-range objectives
Requirements:

Work from blueprints, work orders, documents, verbal and electronic information
Verify work performed is per work instructions and meets process and/or engineering specifications
Work within a team and independently to build composite structure details and assemblies using carbon and other composite materials
Perform multi-tasking and multi-machine operation where applicable
Work on platforms up to ten feet above the ground
Work in confined spaces
Work overhead
Use hand pressure and small tools to form and contour lay-up
Ability to use tools such as scissors, knives, pushing tools, markers, and other small tools
Maintain a clean working environment and clean as you go
May be required to perform touch-up and finishing applications
Ensure equipment and tool certification occurs per procedure
Use shop mathematics and precision measuring instruments to complete work assignments
Sand utilizing pneumatic air tools and/or bond assembly tools to obtain smooth surfaces
