Component Selection, Obsolescence Management
Provide component level expertise and consultation to Design Engineers
Component Ownership (requirements review, selection, usage, and issue addressing) of parts being used
Component Applications knowledge
Create and manage roadmaps for semiconductor parts and their applications for future technologies/products
First-hand analysis of product teams’ specific requirements in selecting the right component for customer RFQs (component & system)
Conduct failure analysis/corrective action with suppliers
Analyze component failure trends
Design, conduct, and document qualification tests of new electronic components considered for new designs
Assist in identifying and resolving manufacturing problems
Manage/create standard component qualification processes where needed
Facilitate communication and interactions between suppliers and design teams
Assist in identifying and resolving manufacturing problems
Support purchasing team during negotiations, part creation
BOM health management
Develop and review technical documentation including design specifications, test plans, and manufacturing instructions
Requirements:
Minimum 2–5 years of experience as a component engineer dealing with semiconductor components or as an applications engineer within the semiconductor industry
Expert in finding alternate components suitable for electrical designs
Knowledge of passive and active components
Experience with product families and technology roadmaps
Technical knowledge covering manufacturing, quality, and reliability issues related to semiconductor components
Understanding of IC design, fabrication processes, construction techniques, applications, and critical specifications impacting performance and reliability
Awareness of ESD, MSL, RoHS, and REACH electronic component compliance
Gap analysis of test results and validation of components to ensure they meet required performance criteria, including stress testing, fatigue testing, and environmental testing.
Address and resolve design and production issues, including troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
Provide technical support to other departments as needed, including production and quality assurance teams.
Prepare and present technical documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and manufacturing instructions.
Collaborate with suppliers to evaluate and select components and materials, ensuring quality, cost, and lead-time considerations are met.
Evaluate the performance of suppliers and drive improvements in product quality and delivery.
Ensure all components meet the quality standards, regulatory requirements, and industry specifications.
Conduct Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify potential risks and mitigate them during the design phase.
Implement continuous improvement initiatives in the design and manufacturing process to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
Nice to have:
Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, material science, and manufacturing processes.
Proficient in component lifecycle management and design for manufacturability (DFM).
Familiarity with quality control processes and industry standards (e.g., ISO, ASTM).
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to perform root cause analysis.
