Job Description:

Complex Needs Teaching Assistant role in a mainstream primary school in Shoreham, providing hands-on, adaptive support for a child with complex needs. The position is temp-to-perm, starting ASAP, with hours from 8:30am to 3:30pm.

Job Responsibility:

tuning into emotional cues and helping the child self-regulate
adjusting activities so learning feels accessible and achievable
reducing sensory overwhelm and creating a calm space when needed
working closely with teachers and external specialists
ensuring the pupil is safe, supported and included throughout the school day

Requirements:

experienced in supporting complex SEN (ASD, sensory needs, communication differences, medical/physical needs, or behavioural challenges)
patient, grounded and consistent
quick to build trust, slow to judge
able to stay calm under pressure
confident working 1:1 and following personalised plans
reliable, professional and genuinely committed to long‑term support
holding a DBS on the Update Service or ready to apply right away

Minimum of GCSEs in English and Maths
Experience in SEND settings is desirable but not essential
