Job Description

Justteachers is recruiting a compassionate and adaptable part-time Teaching Assistant to support pupils with complex needs on a long-term part-time basis within a Year 5 primary classroom in Leicester starting September 2026. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting upper Key Stage 2 pupils with additional needs. The school offers a nurturing and structured environment, with a strong focus on each pupil's individual development, wellbeing, and tailored learning plans.

Job Responsibility

  • Support Year 5 pupils with complex needs on a one-to-one or small group basis
  • Assist the class teacher with differentiated and personalised learning activities
  • Promote a calm, safe, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Support pupils' social, emotional, and behavioural development
  • Work closely with staff to meet individual care and educational needs

Requirements

  • Experience working in a school setting, supported by either a Level 2/3 education qualification(or similar) or a degree-level qualification
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A patient, resilient, and flexible approach
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Two professional or education-based references
  • Legal right to work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS including a children's barred list check and where applicable a vulnerable adults barred list check

Nice to have

  • Previous experience working with children in a SEN setting is desirable
  • A background in care work is highly advantageous
  • Knowledge or understanding of EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans) is desirable
