We are looking for a calm and resilient Complex Needs Assistant to support pupils with SEND, SEMH, and behavioural needs across schools in Hailsham. The role focuses on de-escalation, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour support to help pupils stay engaged in learning.
Job Responsibility:
Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and complex needs
Use trauma-informed, proactive de-escalation techniques
Support pupils with self-regulation and identifying triggers
Help maintain a positive, structured classroom environment
Build supportive relationships that promote wellbeing and engagement
Record behaviour incidents and contribute to support plans
Work closely with teachers, support staff, and families
Requirements:
Experience with children/young people in SEND, SEMH, or behaviour-support settings
Calm, empathetic, and resilient under pressure
Proactive and flexible, able to work across different school settings
Nice to have:
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
Knowledge of de-escalation, restorative practice, or trauma-informed approaches
