Beacon Hill’s client, an international law firm specializing in complex litigation, is seeking an experienced litigation paralegal to support attorneys at a fast-paced, team-oriented firm in their San Diego office. The right candidate is a self-starter and has experience with complex litigation and plaintiff firms, especially in the areas of antitrust, securities, and consumer class actions.
Job Responsibility:
Provide support to multiple partners and associates while working under the guidance of a Paralegal Manager
Proofread and cite check all legal documents
Complete projects on time and accurately
E-filing in federal and state courts
Assist attorneys with discovery and case management, including monitoring deadlines and maintaining familiarity with assigned matters
Finalize, file, and serve briefs, complaints, and other legal documents
monitor filing and service status and keep attorneys apprised throughout the process
Conduct fact-checking and factual research, including background checks and other case-related activities as assigned
Research and prepare pro hac vice applications and related court-specific filing requirements, as needed
Requirements:
3+ years of relevant experience as a paralegal
Knowledge of Bluebook citation procedure and other rules outlined in Bluebook
Proofreading and editorial skills, and advanced grammar knowledge
Considerable knowledge of technical legal terminology
Considerable knowledge of legal processes and procedures
Microsoft Office 365 and Kofax Power PDF
Bloomberg, Westlaw, LexisNexis File & Serve, Pacer, Courtdrive, and electronic filing procedures (both federal and state)
Experience with SharePoint document management system
Bachelor’s Degree
Graduation from an ABA-approved program of study for paralegals, or Graduation from a course of study for paralegals that is institutionally accredited but not ABA approved, and which requires not less than the equivalent of 60 semester hours of classroom study
