Job Description

The Complex Director of Finance is a strategic financial leader responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial operations for The Midland Hotel and The Wade Hotel. This role serves as a key business partner to the General Managers and ownership, providing financial leadership that drives profitability, ensures strong controls, and supports long-term asset value. The ideal candidate brings strong hospitality financial acumen, experience in complex or multi-property environments, and the ability to balance hands-on operational leadership with strategic financial planning.

Job Responsibility

  • Serve as the primary financial advisor to the General Managers and ownership for both properties
  • Lead the annual budget, reforecast, and long-range planning processes
  • Analyze financial performance, trends, and variances
  • provide actionable insights and recommendations
  • Support asset management objectives by driving NOI, cash flow, and EBITDA performance
  • Participate in capital planning, ROI analysis, and owner reporting
  • Oversee all accounting functions including: General ledger, Accounts payable and receivable, Payroll coordination, Cash management, Balance sheet reconciliation
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Maintain compliance with GAAP, brand standards, management company policies, and ownership requirements
  • Establish and enforce strong internal controls and audit readiness
  • Manage external audits, tax filings, and lender reporting as required
  • Collaborate closely with Operations, Sales, HR, and Revenue Management to support business decisions
  • Provide financial guidance on labor management, purchasing, inventory, and expense controls
  • Support pricing strategies, group profitability analysis, and margin optimization
  • Translate financial data into clear, operationally relevant insights for department leaders
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting teams across both hotels
  • Establish clear expectations, workflows, and performance standards
  • Build bench strength through training, coaching, and succession planning
  • Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement
  • Ensure effective use of hotel financial systems (e.g., ERP, POS, labor, purchasing systems)

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum 5–7 years of progressive hotel finance experience
  • Prior experience as a Director of Finance or Assistant Director of Finance in a full-service hotel
  • Strong understanding of hotel operations and financial drivers
  • Proven ability to lead teams and partner cross-functionally
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial reporting systems

Nice to have

  • Multi-property or complex hotel experience
  • Experience with branded full-service or lifestyle hotels
  • CPA or MBA a plus
  • Experience working directly with ownership and asset management groups
