Further to a recent partner hire, this international City firm is looking for a talented Competition associate to join the team in London. This is an exciting opportunity to work across the full spectrum of UK and EU Competition law within a collaborative, forward-thinking environment. You will be trusted with meaningful responsibility from day one, while receiving strong support and mentorship from experienced partners committed to your development.
Job Responsibility:
Advise on merger control and foreign investment matters
Support clients through competition authority investigations and enforcement actions
Work on horizontal and vertical agreements, as well as unilateral conduct issues
Assist in competition disputes, including follow-on damages litigation
Provide strategic advice on compliance, sector inquiries, and market studies
Collaborate with colleagues across jurisdictions on cross-border matters
Manage and progress client matters with partner supervision
Deliver clear, commercially-focussed legal advice
Engage directly with clients and maintain strong relationships
Support merger filings, regulatory submissions and foreign investment notifications
Contribute to contentious and strategic competition matters
Participate in business development and sector initiatives
Requirements:
E&W qualified solicitor (or EU equivalent) with 2–4 years’ PQE in Competition law
Experience across UK and EU Competition frameworks
Strong analytical and communication skills
Commercial awareness and confidence in client-facing situations
Commitment to professional development and business development
Strong academic background
Effective financial and matter management skills
Nice to have:
Experience in merger control, foreign investment, or public enforcement
Sector experience in technology, life sciences, financial services, media, or other regulated industries
