We are looking for a Compensation & Benefits Specialist to join a banking organization in Caledonia, Michigan on a Contract basis. This role partners closely with HR stakeholders to evaluate roles, support compensation decisions, and help maintain consistent pay practices across the organization. The position combines analytical work, consultation with internal teams, and day-to-day coordination of compensation-related activities.
Job Responsibility
Partner with HR business partners and department leaders to assess job roles and support compensation-related recommendations
Evaluate positions using established pay structures, grading methods, and pricing tools to promote internal consistency
Analyze compensation data and prepare insights that guide pay decisions for salary and hourly roles
Use Workday and advanced Excel functions, including lookups, pivot tables, and data cleanup techniques, to manage and interpret workforce information
Provide consultative support on job leveling and compensation placement based on defined pay practices
Coordinate administrative activities tied to compensation programs and maintain accurate supporting documentation
Support ongoing compensation projects, including communication efforts related to pay practices and program updates
Work closely with designated internal leaders to track priorities, resolve questions, and move compensation initiatives forward
Requirements
Prior experience in compensation analysis, compensation administration, or a closely related HR function
Background working in an HR environment with regular collaboration across internal business teams
Familiarity with job pricing methodologies, grading frameworks, or compensation evaluation tools
Hands-on experience using Workday for HR or compensation-related processes
Strong Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, data merging, and data cleansing
Ability to interpret pay data accurately and apply findings to practical compensation decisions
Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting
