We have an exciting opportunity for a Community Safety Educator role at Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service. We have a part time position (18.5 hours per week) available to work across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, joining our dedicated team whose focus is on fire prevention in our communities. This role involves delivering a range of services to our communities, working together to achieve our purpose of Safer People, Safer Places. Community Safety Educators play a crucial role in reducing the risk of fire and delivering targeted intervention activities to those most at risk. This is a challenging but immensely rewarding position providing a great sense of achievement. This role will allow you to further your knowledge on community engagement and collaborative working. Full training, ongoing support and corporate work wear will be provided, as will the use of a vehicle to enable you to drive to various locations across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
Job Responsibility:
Conduct home visits to provide advice and guidance on safety matters, including the installation of detectors
Management of home safety check workload including responding to referrals in appropriate timescales
Support the community through initiatives and events, collaborating proactively with partner agencies and organisations
Implement safeguarding procedures and reporting as required
Deliver presentations and safety talks to members of the community including diverse groups, schools etc
Drive to various locations regularly and undertake physical tasks, such as working on a step ladder and lifting/loading equipment
Requirements:
Enthusiastic individual with confidence and self-motivation
Passion for learning and community engagement
Ability to manage time, prioritise workload, meet deadlines and work effectively as part of a team
Effective interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills (verbal and written)
Willingness to work occasional weekends and evenings
Capability to undertake an enhanced criminal record check through the Disclosure and Barring Service
Competent in researching and identifying current safety messages and emerging risks
