Job Description

We are looking for a Research Community Lead to champion Prolific within the academic and industry research communities. This role focuses on building authentic, grassroots relationships with researchers across disciplines, establishing Prolific as the trusted partner for human behavioral research. You'll foster genuine connections that transform individual researchers into advocates, creating a network effect that drives organic adoption across institutions and research organizations.

Job Responsibility

  • Build authentic relationships with individual researchers that naturally evolve into advocacy, scaling 1:1 to 1:many impact
  • Develop and nurture a network of research champions across key institutions and organizations alongside our Customer Success team
  • Create genuinely helpful content and educational resources that address real researcher challenges (methodology guides, best practices, case studies, data quality)
  • Own the events strategy for academic and industry conferences, including everything from the planning and logistics, content programs and being Prolific’s ambassador with speaking slots and organising community events
  • Facilitate online and offline community interaction through researcher meetups, forums, and knowledge sharing webinars
  • Establish feedback loops that bring authentic researcher voices directly to GTM & product
  • Measure community health through engagement quality, advocate activity, and organic referrals (not just vanity metrics)

Requirements

  • Deep understanding of research methodologies across behavioral sciences, social sciences, and human-computer interaction
  • Proven track record of building authentic relationships within academic or industry research communities
  • Experience cultivating bottom-up advocacy programs where individual champions drive institutional adoption
  • Ability to navigate both academic and industry research environments with credibility
  • Demonstrated success in community-led growth strategies over traditional top-down approaches
  • Experience translating researcher pain points into actionable product insights
  • Track record of creating content that genuinely helps researchers succeed (not just promotes products)
  • Ability to identify and nurture research champions who become natural advocates

Nice to have

  • Published research in peer-reviewed journals or experience with the publication process
  • Active participation in research communities (academic societies, working groups, etc.)
  • Experience organizing researcher-led initiatives like workshops, symposiums, or special interest groups
  • Established reputation as a helpful voice in research methodology forums or communities
