Community Engagement Manager. Darwin, Northern Territory. Permanent. Full-time. We are seeking passionate individuals ready to bring their skills to some of the most beautiful and remote parts of Northern Australia. Reporting to the General Manager of Community Services, you will provide strategic and operational leadership to empower First Nations people through impactful community engagement and program delivery.
Job Responsibility:
Develop, implement, and refine ALPA’s Community Engagement Strategy and project milestones
Oversee the successful execution of the Community Care Program and ensure all initiatives are delivered on time and within budget
Provide end-to-end leadership for a high-performing team, offering coaching, mentoring, and structured development
Build and maintain robust relationships with community stakeholders to amplify ALPA’s outreach
Facilitate interdepartmental meetings to ensure organizational cohesion and effective issue escalation
Manage departmental metrics and financial performance, ensuring data informs all strategic decision-making
Model proactive safety leadership across all programs and remote travel contexts
Requirements:
A tertiary qualification in Community Services, Business, or Leadership, or a minimum of 3 years’ experience in senior leadership
Extensive experience in the delivery of community services and a strong understanding of First Nations people and Yolŋu communities
Proven track record in building relationships and advocating on behalf of an organization to benefit its members
Demonstrated experience in the application, delivery, and acquittal of government grants and contracts
Strong financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets, cost control, and income generation
Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills for strategic reporting and stakeholder engagement
Advanced digital literacy in Microsoft 365, including Teams, SharePoint, and data reporting tools
A logical and systematic approach to problem-solving and process improvement
Willingness and ability to travel to remote communities via 4WD or small light aircraft (weight limit of 140kg applies for aviation safety)
Ability to pass relevant background checks and clearances required for working in remote Indigenous communities
