The Community Education Program Specialist is a full-time, non-exempt position integral to Boston Ballet School’s efforts to engage community constituents through its artistic work. Boston Ballet School (BBS) aims to make ballet accessible and cultivate a new generation of life-long arts advocates and participants. The Specialist will need to be able to travel to BBS locations in Boston, Brookline, and Newton. The Community Education Programs serve a range of community constituents via two flagship curricula: Adaptive Dance and CityDance.
Job Responsibility:
Coordinate the daily operations for community programs, such as Adaptive Dance and Citydance
Manage all logistical aspects of the Community Education portfolio
Provide administrative support to faculty and musicians and the constituents served by these programs
Work with community partners (for example, Boston Public Schools) to deliver on-site introductions to dance education
Support the enhancement of staff and constituent management processes
Collaborate with BBS colleagues on broader initiatives and cross-departmental projects
Provide administrative and front desk support as needed
Maintain a friendly, welcoming environment for students, families, and visitors
Collaborate with staff to ensure smooth day-to-day operations across locations
Perform other duties appropriate to full-time faculty as assigned
Communicate with community partners to ensure effective program and registration operations
Teach assigned classes consistent with the designed curriculum for our Citydance and Adaptive programming
Prepare for classes and maintain daily communication with School and Boston Ballet staff
Attend relevant faculty meetings, curriculum meetings, and teacher training seminars
Work with the BBS leadership team to promote and advance enrollment and retention across all programs
Assist prospective families with information about programming and registration
Be available for student and parent conferences as needed
Maintain positive relationships with parents and students through email, phone, and in-person communication
Support community engagement and special events such as Open Houses, Curriculum Nights, Spring Showcase, master classes, and other assigned activities
Participate in promotional events, including media interviews and photos for publicity purposes
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Minimum 2 years of administrative experience
Minimum 2 years of relevant teaching experience
Must have a flexible schedule including evening and weekend availability
Tuesday—Saturday schedule year-round
Strong organization and communication skills

High level of competency with Microsoft Office Suite: experience with Tessitura a plus
Efficient and proactive problem solver
