The Community Development Worker is a diverse role working across all CMM housing and housing services in Ōtautahi with the aim of providing positive outcomes for tenants and their whānau and creating intentional community development within our housing complexes. This community development approach is strengths-based and provides opportunities for tenants and whānau living in CMM housing to grow and develop their own knowledge and skills in areas that interest them and to help them build community. In addition, this role may include some whānau support work to individuals and whānau in transitional housing, sustaining tenancies, long-term housing or older adults housing. In this mahi there is a focus on addressing issues that have led to homelessness or housing insecurity and building skills and resilience to sustain a tenancy.

Requirements:
Deeply committed to strengths‑based, Community‑Led Development principles
Hands‑on experience applying Community‑Led Development principles in real‑world settings
Strong background working alongside tamariki, whānau, and communities, including Iwi/Māori, Pacific organisations, and people from a wide range of cultural backgrounds
Approach to engagement and planning grounded in respect, partnership, and the belief that people hold the strengths and solutions within themselves
Confident navigating both relationship‑based and administrative aspects of the role
Solid skills in MS Word, email, and database systems
Compassion, courage, flexibility, and the ability to stay steady under pressure
Commitment to honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi in everyday practice
Understanding the impacts of colonisation for Māori
Ability to self‑manage, prioritise effectively, maintain confidentiality, and work collaboratively as part of a supportive team
A clean, current driver’s licence
Must be a NZ citizen or have a current work visa with no restrictions
