As our Canadian Communications Specialist you’ll help build and amplify Employment Hero’s presence across Canada through strong media relations, sharp storytelling and proactive PR momentum. Reporting to the Canada Brand Comms and Content Lead, you’ll support the development and execution of communications initiatives that grow awareness, trust and engagement with Canadian SMBs. This role is hands-on and execution focused. You’ll work closely with global comms, creative and data teams, local marketing partners and external agencies, to deliver high impact PR and content programs that support our market growth.
Job Responsibility:
Supporting the execution of Employment Hero’s Canadian communications strategy
Driving proactive media outreach including pitching to Canadian outlets across national, business, tech, HR and regional news
Supporting reactive media opportunities and incoming enquiries
Helping develop story angles tied to Canadian data customer insights and market trends
Contributing to owned content including press releases, commentary and spokesperson materials
Drafting and distributing media materials including pitches, press releases and statements
Building and nurturing relationships with journalists across relevant Canadian beats
Monitoring news cycles, competitor activity and emerging trends to identify opportunities
Supporting spokesperson preparation including briefing docs, talking points and Q&As
Coordinating with internal teams and external agencies to produce PR assets like video content, case studies and reports
Tracking performance metrics, reporting coverage and sharing insights with senior stakeholders
Managing timelines, deliverables and workflows to ensure communications activity is delivered on time and at a high standard
Requirements:
3 to 5 years of experience in communications, PR or media relations in agency, in house or scale up environments
Proven experience pitching and securing coverage with Canadian media
Strong storytelling instincts, with the ability to shape clear compelling angles
Experience drafting press releases pitches and media docs
Confidence collaborating with content, creative and data teams
A proactive, organized approach and comfort operating in a fast paced environment
Familiarity with earned and organic social channels
Strong communication and project management skills
Nice to have:
Experience in SaaS or tech is a bonus but not required
