In your role as a Communications Officer, you will play a key part in developing and delivering Wilmar's internal and operational communications across Australian operations, and New Zealand Sugar where required. This is a dynamic, hands on role offering variety, creativity, and the opportunity to make a real impact. Working closely with the Group Manager Corporate Relations, you will partner with site and functional teams to create engaging content, manage key communication channels, and deliver campaigns that drive engagement, promote safety, and strengthen Wilmar's reputation. You'll manage workforce communications, developing operational messaging across factory sites, coordinating internal channels, and producing clear, consistent and high quality content aligned with Wilmar's brand. You'll also collaborate with the broader Corporate Relations team and contribute to Media and Grower Communications where needed, giving you exposure across multiple areas of the business. Based in Townsville, you'll enjoy working as part of a supportive, down to earth team that genuinely enjoys what they do.
Job Responsibility:
Work in collaboration with the Corporate Relations team to create clear, engaging communications that help shape and strengthen Wilmar's reputation
Bring stories to life by developing workforce and operational content, including updates, campaigns and internal communications that connect with employees across the business
Manage and publish content across a range of internal and digital channels, ensuring everything is consistent, visually engaging and on-brand
Work in partnership with People & Culture and operational teams to support recruitment, safety and site-based initiatives
Play a hands-on role in coordinating communications activities, including events, stakeholder engagement and working with creative suppliers such as photographers, videographers and designers.
Requirements:
Holds qualifications in communications, media, public relations or a related discipline
Brings significant experience in a similar communications role (ideally 5+ years)
Has strong writing, editing and proofreading skills with exceptional attention to detail
Can manage competing priorities effectively and consistently meet deadlines in a busy environment
Has strong stakeholder engagement skills and enjoys working collaboratively across diverse teams.
Nice to have:
Experience planning and managing editorial calendars and content schedules
Skills or exposure in video editing, photography or coordinating creative/design content
Experience managing digital communication channels and publishing platforms
Familiarity with regional, industrial or operational environments (experience in sugar or manufacturing is an advantage).
