Job Description

The Corporate, External, and Legal Affairs (CELA) Headquarters team is seeking a Communications Manager-Social & Digital to shape and execute a focused executive digital voice strategy. This role will deliver high-impact, issues-based storytelling across social and digital channels, centered on Washington state policy priorities, community engagement, and philanthropy. The goal is to build a credible, trusted, and human executive voice that reflects Microsoft’s leadership at the intersection of technology, society, and local impact. We are looking for a modern digital communicator and experimenter. Someone who is eager to push beyond traditional corporate storytelling, pilot new formats, test emerging platforms, and evolve how executive voice shows up in a fast-changing social landscape. This role will define and evolve a modern, credible executive voice—experimenting with new ways to communicate on issues that matter locally and globally, while ensuring Microsoft’s presence is trusted, relevant, and ahead of the curve in digital engagement.

Job Responsibility

  • Develop and execute a focused, modern social and digital strategy for executive voice, aligned to Washington state policy priorities, community engagement and local impact, philanthropy and corporate citizenship
  • Continuously test and evolve approaches to how executive voice shows up across platforms and formats
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise narratives while maintaining a distinct, authentic, and forward-looking voice
  • Create and manage high-quality, always-on content, including social posts and threads (primarily LinkedIn and emerging platforms), short- and long-form written content, video and innovative multimedia storytelling formats
  • Translate complex policy, legal, and community topics into clear, human, and engaging narratives
  • Bring a test-and-learn mindset to content, piloting new formats, tone, and channel strategies
  • Support timely, thoughtful engagement on relevant issues as they intersect with executive priorities
  • Apply strong judgment in high-visibility or sensitive moments, including message discipline, accuracy, and appropriate tone and escalation
  • Track performance and sentiment for executive channels
  • Use insights and experimentation outcomes to continuously refine strategy, voice, and engagement

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Finance, or related field AND 2+ years experience in communications, social media, or digital storytelling, or related experience OR equivalent experience
  • Experience supporting executive voice, thought leadership, or high-visibility communicators
  • Writing and editorial skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics
  • Demonstrated curiosity and willingness to experiment with new digital formats and platforms
  • Proven ability to operate with sound judgment in issues-sensitive environments
  • Experience working cross-functionally in fast-paced, matrixed organizations
  • Familiarity with public policy, legal, or regulatory environments
  • Experience in regional or community-based storytelling (e.g., state/local policy, philanthropy)
  • Experience using analytics tools to evaluate digital performance
