Job Description

An experienced communications manager is sought to lead policy communications, media relations, and communications campaigns that support policy and business objectives across the U.S. This is a full-time contract role intended to cover a parental leave from April through October 2026. The position involves building and executing strategic communications campaigns at the state and local level, managing media inquiries, and proactively driving awareness of the organization's positive community impact.

Job Responsibility

  • Develop and manage a broad range of external communications programs and events in support of state policy goals
  • Establish and foster local and regional media relationships
  • Create and execute communications campaigns with state policy partners to educate policymakers and media on relevant policy issues
  • Deliver communications counsel to colleagues on the state public policy team regarding both short- and long-term challenges and opportunities
  • Lead and execute events, including reporter briefings, press conferences, and media tours
  • Support the creation of content such as opinion pieces, blog articles, and digital and print collateral
  • Drive issues management programs and serve as a key communications counselor during crises.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 8 years of public relations experience is required, including communications experience with public policy issues for a technology company or government entity
  • A bachelor's degree is required.
