CBM Australia is an international development organisation focused on disability inclusion. With more than 115 years’ experience, we work alongside people with disabilities in some of the world’s poorest communities to help break the cycle of poverty and exclusion and create lasting change. Our Fundraising and Engagement team plays a vital role in connecting and engaging the Australian public, sector and government with our mission through compelling storytelling, partnerships, and advocacy. This role sits in the Marketing & Communications function, working closely with the Policy & Advocacy team and wider organisation to ideate, plan, project manage and deliver key communications content packages, while also working independently to research, write and produce accurate and timely proactive or reactive content to publicise CBMA’s advocacy and international programs work.

Job Responsibility

  • Coordinate, create and deliver targeted communications that amplify CBM Australia’s advocacy, advisory and program work
  • Develop compelling content including articles, blogs, media releases and social media posts
  • Translate complex policy and program information into engaging, accessible communications
  • Collaborate across teams to plan and deliver high-quality communications within an internal agency model
  • Support communications delivery for the Policy & Advocacy and Program Impact teams
  • Develop and implement strategic content plans to drive audience engagement
  • Lead LinkedIn strategy and content delivery for sector audiences
  • Manage end-to-end communication campaigns, including key advocacy moments such as International Day of People with Disabilities
  • Support media outreach and storytelling to increase awareness and engagement
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on communication performance and campaign impact

Requirements

  • Proven experience in policy and advocacy communications, social media engagement and campaign delivery
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex policy or program content into engaging communications
  • Experience engaging diverse audiences including government, sector stakeholders and the public
  • Strong writing, editing and storytelling skills across digital and traditional platforms
  • Experience managing cross-functional campaigns and working collaboratively across teams
  • Strong working knowledge of LinkedIn and social media audience strategies
  • Experience in international development, community development and/or human rights sectors
  • Demonstrated organisational and time management skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in fast-paced environments
  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in communications, media or related discipline
  • Understanding of rights-based approaches to development and/or disability inclusion
