Job Description:

First Class Support provides academic support to students in receipt of disabled student allowance (DSA). We are looking to galvanise our team of highly qualified and experienced specialist support staff. There is currently a position available for a Communication Support Worker.

Job Responsibility:

Translate sign language into voice and vice versa
work flexibly with an individual deaf student in lectures, workshops and seminars
provide general one to one support

Requirements:

Qualified signing and experience of working with deaf learners in an HE context
understanding of how deafness affects learning
must possess one of the following qualifications: Signature Level 3 Certificate in Communication Support for Deaf Learners, OR Level 4 Communication Support Worker, OR Edexcel’s Professional Development Award in Communication Support Work with Deaf Learners, OR City & Guilds Communication Support Worker Level 3, OR a degree in deaf studies and ALSO Signature Level 3 qualification in BSL
must be able to receive emails and phone calls when on location
