Teradyne’s Supply Base Management (SBM) group is seeking a results-driven professional to join our team. The Commodity Manager role will focus on the strategic sourcing of PCBs. You will be responsible for developing global sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, driving cost improvements, and ensuring supply continuity for raw printed circuit boards (PCBs) used across Teradyne’s products. This role requires strong commercial and analytical capabilities, supplier management experience, and effective cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Operations, Planning, and Quality. A technical background is helpful due to the nature of the products but not required.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and execute the global sourcing strategy for raw PCBs
Conduct market analysis on industry trends, supply risks, capacity constraints, cost drivers, and technology roadmaps
Lead supplier selection, qualification, and segmentation to ensure a resilient, high-performing supply base
Create and manage long-term agreements, including cost roadmaps, risk mitigation plans, and continuity-of-supply
Manage supplier relationships with a focus on delivery performance, quality performance, and continuous improvement initiatives
Drive supplier performance reviews, scorecards, and quarterly business reviews (QBRs)
Partner with suppliers to improve cycle times, yields, manufacturability, and material availability
Work with suppliers to proactively manage lifecycle issues, PCNs/EOL notifications, and component or technology transitions
Lead cost negotiations leveraging should-cost models, market benchmarks, and competitive sourcing
Identify and execute cost-reduction initiatives through value engineering, Design-for-cost, material optimization, and supply chain simplification
Manage pricing strategies during NPI phases, production ramp, and sustaining life-cycle management
Partner with Engineering on design considerations for PCBs that support cost, manufacturability, and long-term availability
Align with Operations and Planning on lead-time expectations, volume forecasts, factory readiness, and supply continuity
Support New Product Introduction (NPI) sourcing decisions and ensure supplier readiness for prototype, pilot, and ramp stages
Assess risks such as single-source dependencies, geopolitical exposure, lifecycle/obsolescence risks, and capacity constraints
Develop and execute multi-sourcing plans, alternative component strategies, and business continuity plans
Manage escalations involving shortages, supplier factory constraints, or delivery-critical situations
Requirements:
8-15 years of experience in supply chain, strategic sourcing, commodity management, or procurement
Experience with PCB, or complex electronic components (or similar fabrication-based commodities)
Strong negotiation and contracting skills, with proven success in cost management
Ability to analyze technical specifications, supplier cost structures, and manufacturing processes
Excellent communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills
Ability to travel up to 15%, both domestic and international
Nice to have:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, Business, or related field
Experience with EMS/CM environments or high-mix, low-volume manufacturing
Familiarity with PCB manufacturing processes, stackups, and DFM principles
Experience in a high-tech, semiconductor, capital equipment, or electronics industry
