This position is responsible for purchasing components as an integral part of the purchasing team, the professional should help to establish a configuration for the procurement of components according to the local (plant) procurement definition and the global procurement configuration.
Job Responsibility:
Negotiate long-term agreements for series production components
Recommend supplier process improvements through interpreting engineering drawings and evaluating customer needs
Explore available technology and implement best practices related to purchasing activities
Select suppliers for existing products through effective use of procurement skills in an automotive environment (IATF 16949, QS-9000, AIAG, ISO 14001)
Prepare Tenders (RFQ’s) for multi-year full production quantities
Evaluate part designs with engineering, quality and suppliers to obtain optimum efficiencies
Develop metrics to measure progress against corporate goals
Responsible for raising change requests for Purchasing Projects
Responsible for raising tooling and production orders
Support Global corporate purchasing activities
Project work as appropriate and other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering area or related field
3-5 years purchasing experience
Experience of working with a Global commodity supply base
ERP experience required
Knowledge of SAP R3 (valued)
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project required
Attention to detail
Good written, verbal and presentation skills
Excellent negotiation skills
Excellent influencing skills, setting direction, and prioritising
Able to motivate others and drive for results
Proficiency in English, written and spoken
Full Proficiency in Portuguese, written and spoken
Flexibility and willingness to travel at short notice
