Job Responsibility

  • Responsible for the management of assigned commodities and suppliers including annual price negotiations
  • Responsible for component and supplier sourcing strategies for assigned product group
  • Provides cost and quality wise favorable quotations for required materials out of the NAFTA market
  • Lead supplier selection for the NAFTA region
  • Perform cost and value analysis in cooperation with other departments, centers and product teams
  • Cost reduction for new purchased parts and sub-assemblies by early supplier involvement and by working with the respective Customer Team Buyer(s)
  • Provides support to production with coordination of technical changes of purchased parts and implementation of economical improvements
  • Initiates and records cost avoidances during launch timeframe
  • Responsible for the issuance of RFQ's prior to SOP as well as engineering changes during current production
  • Support the Customer Team Buyer(s) in the target setting process (defining the target prices as well as commodity implications)

Requirements

  • Industrial or Mechanical Engineer is a preferred
  • Purchasing experience 5-7 years on direct production material for Automotive industry (Tier or OEM) for mechanical parts (molding, Stamping, forming, welding)
  • Experience with software SAP
  • Experience to understand cost break down
  • Analytical skills, communicative and well spoken
