Job Description:

The role resides within the EMEA Commodities Operations team based in Belfast, who are responsible for supporting and partnering with the Commodities Business across the full suite of their activities. The Commodities Business transacts high volumes across various different markets. This position will primarily entail responsibility for overseeing one of multiple Commodities Operations functions including people management responsibilities. We require a specialist with a strong understanding of how to risk manage commodity deals with experience across a variety of Commodities operations roles. We require an individual who has a proven record and ability to innovate, improve and drive change across the organization.

Job Responsibility:

  • Acting as key point of contact for the team across internal and external stakeholders
  • Providing input to simplify, improve and measure processes by delivering enhancements to the control environment
  • Act as a strategic partner with all potential stakeholders in onboarding new and complex commodities transactions, ensuring procedures are properly embedded, supported and risk managed on an ongoing basis
  • Focus on risk reduction, control management, escalations
  • Daily Collaboration across Global Clients, Trading, and Operations teams to provide solutions and identify/resolve root cause

Requirements:

  • Significant relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience in building and managing successful teams
  • Experience in managing a Commodities Operations team within Banking and Financial Services Institutions preferred
  • Proven ability to manage various concurrent activities/projects in a high-risk environment
  • Effective project management and negotiation skills
  • Consistently demonstrated clear and concise written and verbal communication
  • Demonstrated success dealing with senior and executive management
  • Strong, influential communicator who is articulate and concise
  • Strong risk management and control mindset
  • Ability to identify gaps in controls and provide solutions to bridge those gaps
  • Self-reliant, good problem solver and results oriented
  • Strong awareness of both external and internal best practice perspectives
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Subject matter expert in at least one area of Securities and Derivatives processing
  • Advanced knowledge of hedge funds activities including calculation of Net Asset value (price), recording of corporate actions, reconciling cash and holdings, and pricing of securities
  • Bachelor’s Degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • Master’s degree preferred
