Job Responsibility:

  • Assist in the preparation and production of pastries, desserts, and baked goods as directed by senior chefs
  • Support with mise en place for daily service and special events
  • Maintain high standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation
  • Follow instructions precisely and contribute to the smooth running of the pastry section
  • Adhere strictly to hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety regulations, including COSHH protocols and company standards
  • Ensure all tools and work areas are clean and sanitised before, during, and after service
  • Assist with the organisation and restocking of ingredients and materials
  • Work collaboratively with the pastry team, showing initiative and willingness to learn
  • Maintain professional appearance, following uniform and grooming guidelines at all times
  • Embrace opportunities for training and development within the pastry kitchen

Requirements:

  • A recognised culinary qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Professional Cookery or Patisserie)
  • Basic knowledge of pastry techniques, baking methods, and dessert preparation
  • Understanding of food hygiene and safety standards (Level 2 Food Safety Certificate or equivalent)
  • Ability to follow recipes and instructions with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work efficiently under pressure
  • A genuine passion for pastry with a willingness to learn and develop within a professional kitchen
