Job Description:

We are seeking a Commercial Trainee to join our Milling team in Montreal Quebec. This is an entry-level role designed for recent graduates who are eager to build a career in the agriculture and food industry. The Commercial Trainee will learn the fundamentals of grain procurement, risk management, customer relationships, and flour product strategies. This role provides hands-on training, mentorship, and exposure to various aspects of ADM’s commercial operations. Over time, you’ll develop the skills needed to advance into leadership and commercial management roles within ADM.

Job Responsibility:

  • Learn how to manage grain procurement, flour blending, and inventory strategies
  • Support daily operations of the Montreal Flour Mills and Candiac Starch Plant
  • Assist in coordinating truck, rail, and container shipments of raw materials and finished products
  • Participate in analyzing financial and operational data to support decision making
  • Build relationships with customers, vendors, and internal teams (operations, finance, sales)
  • Shadow experienced managers to understand how to develop and execute commercial strategies
  • Gain exposure to profit and loss (P&L) reporting, forecasting, and risk management practices
  • Contribute to special projects, process improvement initiatives, and safety programs

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Agriculture, or related field (recent graduates encouraged to apply)
  • Strong interest in agriculture, food production, and global supply chains
  • Highly motivated, with a willingness to learn and take on new challenges
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • All candidates must have authorization and the ability to maintain authorization to legally work in Canada
  • All Candidates must be fluent in French and English
  • English is essential in this role as it is our common business language, which we use to communicate effectively with colleagues, customers and a variety of stakeholders globally
