Job Description:

Lead Commercial Performance at a Major Open-Cut Mining Operation. Step into a pivotal commercial leadership role at the centre of mine operations. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will be the key financial partner driving value, efficiency, and performance across the operation. You will lead a small, high performing team focused on delivering accurate reporting, insightful analysis, and strategic advice that supports sound decision making. This is your opportunity to influence outcomes that directly shape the financial success of the mine.

Job Responsibility:

  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with the mine operator’s finance team and Peabody’s on-site leadership group
  • Drive a culture of commercial awareness by identifying and monitoring value-adding initiatives that enhance cost efficiency and operational performance
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all financial records, including the preparation and review of general ledger entries and strict control over capital and operating expenditure
  • Deliver timely and insightful monthly and quarterly forecasts, variance analysis, and performance commentary
  • Uphold compliance with SOX and internal control frameworks, safeguarding the company’s assets and financial governance standards
  • Lead the preparation and review of five-year business plans, budgets, quartile forecasts and associated management presentations
  • Provide robust financial analysis and evaluations to support strategic and operational decision-making

Requirements:

  • A tertiary qualification in accounting, commerce, or a related field
  • CA or CPA qualification (essential)
  • 7–10 years’ post-graduate experience with a solid background in management reporting
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience
  • The ability to work autonomously to identify and implement improvement opportunities
  • A genuine commitment to safety as a core value
  • Experience with SAP (highly regarded)
  • Previous exposure to the mining or broader resources sector (advantageous)
