The Compute & Storage, AI, and Networking Technology Sourcing Team moves fast and leverages key partnerships to drive technical innovation, high quality standards and cost-savings via a customized supply chain. The Cloud Commercial Sourcing Manager will act as the lead commercial and business contact for Cloud hardware, software, and services across the Meta supply base, while developing optionality on sources of supply as required. Sourcing activities will include, but not be limited to, identification of cloud service providers and options, developing and leading negotiation and sourcing strategies, partnering with Meta Infra Research, hardware and software engineering teams to develop a business and technology roadmap in support of Meta’s AI goals and objectives and driving strategic sourcing decisions on a global basis. Working closely with the Research and development engineering Teams, the Sourcing Manager will lead the commercial engagements and partner relationships for cloud sourcing and related services in support of AI model research & development. The Sourcing Manager will also be responsible for the deployment of selected solutions and technologies, and supplier management with particular emphasis in the areas of sourcing and licensing for cloud technologies and services. Additionally, the Sourcing Manager will be responsible for contracts, negotiations, custom engagement models, software licensing, and the development of global commodity and supply chain strategies to enable Meta to meet time-to-development goals, while managing the total landed cost. This position reports to the Director of technology sourcing.
Job Responsibility:
Maintain current knowledge of the technology and industry trends for cloud services and related technologies and perform competitive analysis on relevant offerings
Develop, manage and refresh sourcing strategies and roadmaps for cloud and maintain understanding of the actively managed adjacent technologies
Develop and maintain relationships with executive management at core cloud providers. Influence supplier business models, roadmaps, and support to ensure Meta's commercial and technical requirements are met
Conduct and lead regular supplier business and executive reviews to monitor and improve cloud supplier performance
Develop and maintain relationships with internal Product Group executive sponsors to facilitate their cloud relationships
Provide technical commodity and supplier expertise and consulting to research and development engineering for technology migration and lower TCO
Analyze and optimize cloud spend for maximum savings and efficiency
Work with XFN partners including accounting and finance on cloud budgeting, budget to actual analysis, and required accounting disclosures
Be a liaison to Meta Partnerships Business Development team and brief C-Suite on cloud relationships
Drive supplier proposals, RFP/RFI/RFQ and business awards. Resolve all commercial queries arising from the quote process
Own commercial and operational supply chain expertise in supplier negotiations and provide review and input for product development and master supply agreements
Requirements:
BS degree in a related technical or business field, or equivalent combination of education and experience in commodity management in a high tech environment
10+ years of business or supply chain experience in the data center, cloud service providers, compute, or AI system hardware supply chain and associated industries
Proven experience to move seamlessly from strategy to execution and deliver tangible results
Interpersonal and communication skills, with experience influencing, negotiating, building consensus and making key strategic decisions
Experience interfacing with internal and external partners in a fast-paced, often ambiguous, entrepreneurial and cross-functional environment, requiring a wide latitude for independent judgment while coordinating people and technical resources
In-depth understanding of "should cost" for cloud offerings and trade offs of make vs buy
Direct experience partnering with C-suite executives and leaders in top cloud supplier partners
