Job Description:

Are you an insurance professional looking for a key role in the field of commercial property? Are you recognized for your ability to accurately assess risks and develop customized solutions for clients? We have an exceptional opportunity for you as a Commercial Property Underwriter in Laval. In this role, you will drive the company's growth by playing a central part in underwriting new business and managing a portfolio of renewals. Your expertise in commercial property underwriting and damage insurance will enable you to develop lasting partnerships with brokers and clients across Canada, providing exceptional service and high-value solutions. This position, which falls under the finance and accounting category, is ideal for a bilingual (French and English) professional, as a large portion of the communications will be with English-speaking partners and clients. You will tackle stimulating challenges in a dynamic and collaborative work environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Underwrite basic to moderately complex commercial property and casualty insurance contracts, covering, pricing, production, and delivery, risk management, and local brokerage plan management
  • Evaluate risks and make underwriting decisions based on company guidelines, risk appetite, and pricing strategies
  • Develop and maintain relationships with brokers and clients, providing exceptional customer service and offering high-value solutions
  • Collaborate with other underwriters, brokers, and internal teams to foster profitable growth and achieve assigned monthly sales goals
  • Analyze data and trends to identify new business opportunities and develop marketing strategies to attract new business
  • Manage the submission, quoting, and commitment processes for new and renewal business, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness
  • Negotiate policy terms and conditions with brokers and clients, ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements

Requirements:

  • Significant experience in commercial property underwriting
  • Bilingualism (French and English) with excellent communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field, or a combination of relevant education and experience
  • Experience with a CRM and policy management systems
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build partnerships with brokers and clients
