Job Description:

My client is seeking a Head of Department to lead their Commercial Property team. This is an exceptional opportunity for a senior solicitor with leadership experience and strong technical expertise in commercial property law to take on a strategic and client-facing role.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead and manage the Commercial Property department, including supervision and mentoring of junior lawyers and support staff
  • Oversee a varied caseload including acquisitions and disposals, landlord and tenant matters, commercial leases, developments, and investment transactions
  • Deliver expert, commercially focused legal advice to clients across sectors
  • Maintain and grow strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor
  • Play an active role in business development, networking, and identifying opportunities for growth
  • Work with the senior management team to develop and implement departmental strategy
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and risk management requirements
  • Monitor team performance, targets, and financial KPIs, including billing and profitability.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Solicitor (8+ years PQE) with extensive experience in commercial property law
  • Proven leadership experience within a legal team or department
  • Strong commercial acumen and a proactive approach to business development
  • Exceptional client care and communication skills
  • Ability to manage a busy caseload while providing guidance and oversight to the team
  • Desire to contribute to the strategic direction of the firm and the department.
