As a Commercial Manager, you will have knowledge and experience in pre and post-contract management and procurement within the UK rail sector. The Commercial Manager will be expected to utilise their major project experience and knowledge to drive efficiencies and effective supply chain engagement. This role will be based in London, UK and you will be required to be on site/at the office 3 days a week. Job Responsibility
Manage and develop junior members of the team
NEC3 Contract management and administration upstream and downstream
Establish and manage entitlement, with focus on maximising entitlement under the contract
Investigate and draft contract communications and notices including Early Warning Notices, notification of Compensation Events, General Communications
Liaison and negotiation with the Client’s Commercial and/or project team
Establishing and maintaining productive and collaborative relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders
Ensure appropriate commercial records are maintained in line with the contract requirements and oversee any contractual issues
Provide contractual and commercial risk advice to the Commercial team and wider Technical and Construction Delivery teams
Identify and manage risks and opportunities
Lead project financial monitoring and reporting, interrogate outputs, implement actions
Contribute to, and implement, margin improvement plans
Produce cashflow forecasts and maximise cash position
Administration of subcontractor and supplier contracts including EWNs, change, payments, forecasts and through to final account
The Commercial Manager will lead the review and valuation of subcontractor applications for payment in accordance with contractual terms and conditions and contractual entitlement
Manage, monitor and report on commercial and cost reporting aspects of allocated projects and portfolio of works including CVRs and cost control
Support the programme and project teams to ensure full compliance with contract and corporate governance rules
Requirements
Educated to degree level
MEP experience
Main contractor and/or joint venture experience
An experienced user of the NEC3-4 suite of contracts
Experienced in controlling costs for self delivery works
Experienced in negotiating and procuring sub-contract packages (Design-Delivery-Commission), testing the robustness of costs and value for money
Have, or be working towards, chartership of a relevant institution
Able to prioritise the delivery of the objectives of their role
Site presence and co-location minimum 3 days a week
