Our client is a well-established contracting business operating within the confines of inner London. They have an excellent reputation for the high standard of their work on prime residential projects involving complex builds and basements. As part of their planned expansion, they have created a new opening for a Commercial Manager. It’s likely you will be degree qualified in Quantity Surveying and have demonstrable experience working for a contractor on high end residential projects in London. They need someone who understands supply chains and value engineering. Someone who can lead from preconstruction/tender stage, putting together robust bids with subcontractors who mirror their exemplary standards, through to final accounts. Candidates will have a minimum of five years Quantity Surveying experience in the fast-moving and highly demanding field of main contracting, ideally in the specialist arena of high end residential and experience of working closely with HNWI’s. You are highly ambitious and are now at the stage in your career where you seek more of a positive acknowledgement for your work and want the autonomy to effectively run your own projects and see the incentives. Projects are typically £20 - £100m (with multiple projects live at any one time). You will be responsible for managing an Estimator and Project Surveyors and report directly into the board.
Job Responsibility:
Lead all commercial duties – Pre and Post Contract
Head up the legal representation
Implement new processes and assist in digitising commercial procedures
Value engineering to maximise margins for contracts and buying
Expand their network of subcontractors
Monthly audits, reporting on progress
Manage final accounts
Protect business interests and minimise risk
Requirements:
Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying
demonstrable experience working for a contractor on high end residential projects in London
understands supply chains and value engineering
ability to lead from preconstruction/tender stage, putting together robust bids with subcontractors
minimum of five years Quantity Surveying experience in main contracting
