Our client is a leading utilities contracting firm seeking a driven and experienced Commercial Manager to join its team in the North West, UK. This is a pivotal role, with the successful candidate taking full ownership of all commercial aspects of key projects, from initial tender and contract negotiation to financial close and final account settlement. You will be responsible for proactively managing commercial risks, ensuring project profitability, and building strong relationships with clients and suppliers. This position is ideal for a Senior Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in the utilities or civil engineering sector within the UK.

Job Responsibility

  • Develop and implement commercial strategies for all projects
  • Lead negotiations with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to secure favourable terms
  • Oversee project budgets, cost forecasting, and reporting to ensure financial targets are met
  • Identify and manage commercial risks, implementing effective mitigation strategies

Requirements

  • Proven track record in a senior commercial or quantity surveying role within the UK utilities or multi-utility connections sector
  • Comprehensive understanding of JCT and NEC3/NEC4 contracts and relevant UK contract law
  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and leadership skills
