Indiana Farmers Insurance is currently looking for a Commercial Lines Underwriter II to join our Underwriting team. The ideal candidate will be located in Indiana, Illinois or Ohio. The Commercial Lines Underwriter II plays a key role in helping us grow a profitable, sustainable book of business while building strong relationships with our agency partners. In this position, you'll evaluate new and renewal risks, analyze coverage needs, and make thoughtful underwriting decisions that balance opportunity with sound risk management. Using data, experience, and critical thinking, you'll determine appropriate premiums, coverage terms, deductibles, limits, and endorsements for accounts approved for coverage. You'll collaborate closely with fellow underwriters and agents to find solutions, support business growth, and help drive informed decisions that support our vision and contribute to our long-term success.

Requirements
Five years of property casualty experience
Two years of experience in Commercial Underwriting
Regularly communicating and occasionally scheduling agency visits to strengthen agency relationships and foster territory growth and profitability
Bachelor’s degree, preferred
Training and assisting less experienced underwriters, as well as agents, in understanding coverages, analyzing risks, and learning the business in general
Monitoring and managing retention, growth and profitability of an assigned book of business
Effective communication skills (both listening and speaking) and positive interpersonal skills
Strong sales acumen with the ability to sell our products and pricing in the face of competition
Thorough and detail oriented, with a strong sense of urgency
Ability to work independently and stay self-motivated
