Indiana Farmers is currently looking for a Commercial Lines Underwriter I to join our Underwriting team. The right candidate will collaborate closely with both underwriters and assistant underwriters to evaluate and analyze risks. Commercial underwriting experience or familiarity with the commercial industry are preferred, but we could also consider someone with property/casualty insurance who is willing to work hard and learn quickly. As a Commercial Lines Underwriter with Indiana Farmers Insurance, you will help drive informed decision making in support of our vision.
Job Responsibility
Reviewing new insurance applications, renewals, and risk acceptance according to designated premium and authority guidelines
Working with assigned agents to develop cooperative relationships that foster growth and profitability
Analyzing insurance information to determine the appropriate premiums, limits, retention, and coverages for approved risks
Working with other territory underwriters to resolve customers’ coverage and underwriting questions, and to resolve their problems
Providing excellent customer service
Requirements
Two years of previous commercial underwriting experience preferred
Equivalent experience in a property/casualty insurance company or the agency customer service field could also work
College degree, preferred
An insurance designation or insurance-related coursework is preferred
Effective problem solving and decision-making skills, required
