Job Description

Indiana Farmers is currently looking for a Commercial Lines Senior Assistant Underwriter to join our Underwriting team. The right candidate will be local to Indianapolis, IN. As a Senior Assistant Underwriter in Commercial Lines, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely handling of complex underwriting transactions and support the evaluation and servicing of commercial risks by applying underwriting guidelines, exercising delegated authority, and supporting risk selection and pricing decisions. This position contributes to underwriting quality, workflow efficiency, timeliness, and strong agency relationships by providing technical guidance and support to underwriters and assistant underwriters. As a Commercial Lines Senior Assistant Underwriter, you will deliver informed, responsive service to our agents and insureds, in support of our vision.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Five or more years commercial underwriting support experience
  • Experience handling complex commercial accounts, including endorsements, renewals, and policy transactions
  • Knowledge of underwriting principles, policy processing, and coverage structures
  • Experience supporting underwriting transactions, including new business, endorsements, and renewals
  • Experience providing guidance or training to less experienced staff preferred
