Are you a seasoned HVAC service expert ready to tackle complex commercial systems and lead a team to success? We are seeking a reliable, licensed professional with a required Connecticut S-2 or D-2 license to manage advanced diagnostics and repairs on commercial equipment (e.g., chillers, boilers, RTUs). If you possess superior technical skills and leadership ability, join our high-performing team! In your role as the Commercial Lead HVAC Service Technician, you will be the senior technical authority for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining large-scale commercial heating, cooling, and ventilation systems. You will lead by example in the field, ensuring all service work is code-compliant and maintains critical operations for our business clients.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead and execute advanced diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on complex commercial HVAC equipment (5+ tons), including chillers, boilers, VRF systems, air handlers, and roof-top units (RTUs)
  • Act as the senior technical resource for the commercial service team, providing expert guidance, troubleshooting support, and mentorship to junior technicians
  • Interpret and work from commercial blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications to ensure compliant and effective repairs
  • Ensure all service work adheres strictly to local codes, EPA regulations (especially Section 608 for refrigerants), manufacturer specifications, and safety standards
  • Provide professional and clear communication to facility managers, building owners, and engineers regarding system status, complex repair options, and system efficiency recommendations
  • Utilize company-provided iPad and smartphone for efficient service documentation, time tracking, digital reporting, and professional communication
  • Ensure the company vehicle is fully stocked, organized, and properly maintained for complex commercial needs

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in Commercial HVAC service and repair
  • S-2 (Unlimited Heating, Piping & Cooling) or D-2 (Limited Warm Air, A/C, and Refrigeration) License is REQUIRED
  • Demonstrated experience in taking ownership of commercial jobs, performing high-level diagnostics, and leadership or mentoring
  • Strong technical knowledge of commercial-grade HVAC systems, electrical schematics, controls (DDC), and refrigeration principles
  • Must hold a current EPA Section 608 Universal Certification for refrigerant handling
  • Proficiency with technology, including using an iPad and company smartphone for daily job management
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record
