Job Description

You run a commercial HVAC service department, or you’re the technical lead who effectively does. You’re good at it. This role gives you the one thing your current job probably doesn’t: the authority to run it the way you think it should be run.

Job Responsibility

  • Run the service department day to day and own the technical standard across it
  • Manage engineers and approved subcontractor list, rotas, standby, scheduling and training
  • Ensure statutory and mandatory PPM is planned, delivered, reported and followed up
  • Be the technical point of reference for engineers across service, maintenance, repairs and remedials
  • Produce quotations for service, repairs, remedials and small works
  • Run small works projects from scope to completion
  • Mobilise new service agreements including site surveys and asset verification
  • Spend regular time on site meeting clients and engineers, running audits and carrying out H&S checks

Requirements

  • Strong commercial gas qualifications (ACS commercial – domestic-only won’t cover the technical authority the role needs)
  • Experience in service management, technical support or operational leadership
  • Solid building regs knowledge, formal H&S training including RAMS, and genuine commercial awareness
  • Full UK driving licence

Nice to have

  • Hands-on experience across commercial refrigeration and AC on top of the gas
  • F-Gas Category 1
  • CIBSE or Institute of Refrigeration affiliation
  • ISO 9001 exposure

  • Supervise and direct field technicians to effectively perform the functions of equipment repair, maintenance, start-up, operation, and other duties as required to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Resolve warranty issues, product recall notices, operational problems with products, premature failures, and other issues as they apply to products and equipment sold and serviced by the company
  • Develop career paths and training plans for service teams to create a best in class service team and minimize attrition
