It starts with our people, which is why we need a Commercial Finance Business Partner who provides high‑quality financial insight and commercial support to designated practice groups and business areas. The role works closely with senior stakeholders to support planning, forecasting, and decision‑making, helping to improve financial performance and commercial outcomes.
Job Responsibility
Lead revenue budgeting, forecasting and reporting across departments and practice groups, ensuring accuracy and insight
Act as the primary finance contact for assigned practice groups and leadership teams
Build strong working relationships with partners and senior stakeholders, providing trusted financial advice and constructive challenge
Attend and contribute to department and practice group leadership meetings, presenting financial insight clearly and confidently
Translate complex financial information into clear, actionable messages for non‑finance audiences
Deliver insightful analysis of financial performance, trends, risks, and opportunities at practice group, partner, and matter level
Provide clear commentary on performance against budget, forecast, and prior periods, highlighting key drivers
Support profitability, margin, utilisation, and recovery analysis to improve commercial outcomes
Undertake ad‑hoc analysis to support strategic and operational decision‑making
Provide financial input into business cases, including lateral hires, promotions, investments, and growth initiatives
Build and review financial models to assess the commercial impact of proposed decisions
Identify and communicate financial risks and opportunities, recommending appropriate actions
Work closely with central finance, client reporting, pricing, and revenue management teams to ensure consistency and accuracy of information
Collaborate with HR and BD teams on headcount planning, investment decisions, and growth initiatives
Act as a finance representative on cross‑functional projects where required
Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting, and planning
Promote greater financial understanding and commercial awareness within the business
Contribute to finance‑wide initiatives and continuous improvement activities
Requirements
Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) or equivalent experience
Strong experience in a FBP, Senior Finance Analyst, FP&A, or commercial finance role
Proven ability to analyse complex financial data and produce clear, insightful outputs
Confidence working with senior stakeholders and influencing decision‑making
Strong Excel and financial modelling skills
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts clearly
Commercial mindset with the ability to challenge constructively and pragmatically
Nice to have
Experience in a professional services or partnership‑based environment
Exposure to business cases, scenario modelling, or investment appraisal
Experience working with practice management or financial reporting systems (e.g. 3E, Power BI)
