Job Description

As a commercial finance analyst at Softcat, you will be responsible for using financial and operational data to report on and generate meaningful insights that inform decision-making. In this role, you will go beyond reporting performance — you will seek to understand why performance has occurred, identify emerging risks and opportunities, and contribute to recommendations on what should happen next.

Job Responsibility

  • Produce structured analysis on performance across a range of variables
  • Build and maintain recurring commercial finance reports
  • Develop dashboard and KPI packs for leadership and operational teams
  • Identify and implement improvements to existing reporting, helping to make outputs robust and repeatable
  • Support senior stakeholders by providing clear financial information to inform business performance discussions and decisions
  • Begin translating financial data into commercial recommendations, demonstrating sound judgement and resilience when challenged
  • Prepare and present findings and insights in a clear manner to senior management
  • Ensure non-financial stakeholders understand what your analysis shows and that outputs are appropriate for the audience

Requirements

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) is desirable
  • Thorough approach with high level of accuracy and numeracy
  • Strong financial modelling and analytical skills, with the ability to distil complex data into clear insights
  • Clear communication skills, with confidence presenting analysis to stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to build new analysis from first principles and improve existing work
