As Commercial Editor, you’ll be responsible for the quality, effectiveness and performance of our editorial partnerships, with a focus on Lifestyle, Retail or Business & Finance. Working closely with Brand Partnerships Leads, you’ll help win pitches, deliver standout content, and ensure every partnership drives real results — for clients, for subscribers, and for the Telegraph.
Job Responsibility:
Lead clients in shaping strong, commercially effective editorial ideas that deliver meaningful results, including driving engagement and subscriptions. You’ll oversee content quality at every stage — from pitch through to commissioning and delivery
Own the editorial direction and quality of all partnership content across digital, video and page production, ensuring every element is fully briefed, on brand, and signed off to the highest standard
Ensure all Editorial Integrated Partnership (EIP) content is delivered to brief, on time, and to Telegraph house style, maintaining consistently high editorial standards
Edit copy to an exceptional standard before it enters the sub-editing process
Work closely with Project Management and Sales teams to ensure partnerships are planned, costed, and delivered efficiently, optimising performance throughout each campaign
Take ownership of partnerships within one core area, Lifestyle, Retail, or Business & Finance, while remaining flexible to support other categories when needed
Source, manage and negotiate on-screen or featured talent for campaigns, ensuring relevance, quality and strong commercial value
Act as a subject-matter expert across processes, client communication, compliance and legal requirements, SEO best practice, and the effective use of technology
Collaborate with sales colleagues to develop proactive partnership ideas and refine pitch decks that win new business
Requirements:
Proven editorial, organisational and communication skills
First-class team player – self-motivated and proactive in making suggestions/improvements, finding solutions and relentlessly aiming for the highest-quality content and results that matter for clients – and inspiring others to do likewise
Good contacts book of freelance writers
Peerless client skills and experience, and excellent industry insight (commercial and editorial)
Top of your field in terms of proactive content ideas, commissioning, editing and managing successful projects from pitch to PCA
Extremely comfortable working to tight deadlines and under pressure and have a can-do, problem-solving attitude
