The Commercial Director leads the resort’s overall Sales and Marketing efforts, driving revenue generation across all market segments, managing key client relationships, and overseeing the performance and development of a high-performing Sales & Marketing team including Sales, Events (Conference Services), Public Relations, Revenue Management and Reservations. This role requires strong commercial acumen, leadership skills, and the ability to adapt strategies to the unique challenges of operating in a remote destination.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and execute strategies to achieve revenue targets across rooms, events, and ancillary services
Monitor current and future market trends to proactively adjust commercial plans and optimize performance
Direct individual and group sales activity, ensuring an optimal business mix across transient, leisure, group, MICE segments
Lead major sales efforts with Director of Sales, and support the sales team in high-value negotiations
Oversee the development of integrated marketing plans, including digital, Public Relations, social media, promotional and paid media strategies
The ability to understand the different needs of market segments and implement strategies/programs as appropriate to maximize profitability
Develop and implement the Annual Commercial Plan
Prepare, monitor and control the annual commercial budget. Ensure brand consistency in all internal and external communications, including third-party and corporate materials
Represent the resort in trade shows, events, and industry forums to enhance visibility and market presence when required
Review and monitor competitive hotels to formulate recommendations on product and service enhancements to remain competitive
Identify sources of business available to the hotel and establish priority marketing opportunities in the solicitation of that business
Lead, train, and mentor the Commercial team, setting clear KPIs and conducting regular performance evaluations
Establish and monitor annual sales goals, budgets, and incentive plans
Coordinate departmental action plans, sales trips, promotions, and special events
Co-ordinate sales activities with WSOs
Manage inventory control, pricing strategy, and availability for guest rooms and event space
Review and resolve booking conflicts, cancellations, or client issues, ensuring optimal service and profitability
Develop and approve travel schedules and budgets
Determine staffing requirements, sales deployment, areas of responsibility and manage the performance of assigned staff according to their respective job descriptions
Maintain strong relationships with key clients and accounts
Provide “one-up” sales assistance for all key accounts
Ensure high service standards and personalized communication throughout the sales process
Promote guest loyalty and generate repeat business through proactive engagement and follow-up
Analyze sales data (C360, RevFinder, Adobe Analytics, etc.), competitor activity, and customer behavior to inform strategic decisions
Provide accurate forecasts and performance reports to senior leadership
Contribute to budgeting, revenue forecasting, and long-term business planning
Coordinate with operations, revenue, and front office teams to ensure alignment of sales and reservations strategies with guest experience and operational capabilities
Conduct regular interdepartmental meetings to optimize communication and planning for booked business
Ability to manage different stakeholder relationships including ownership groups, corporate personnel, interdepartmental relationships and local communities
Utilize and oversee CRM and sales systems (e.g., Golden Sales and Catering, PMS) to support sales activity and reporting
Implement and maintain automated processes for tracking, reservations, and client relationship management
Implement systems to ensure Commercial programs achieve projected results
Assist in the preparation and control of the Commercial budget
Ensure departmental cost efficiency, including management of direct selling costs
Align commercial activities with broader resort business goals and operational strategies
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Marketing, Business, or related field
Previous Commercial Director position is a plus, minimum of 4 years experience in luxury hospitality in one of the commercial discplines
Requires strong revenue and budget management skills
Proven track record of success in driving revenue and team performance
Strong knowledge of digital marketing, OTA platforms, and CRM systems is preferred
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
English: Advanced level (spoken and written). Must be able to effectively interact with international guests, draft professional emails and reports, and actively participate in work-related meetings conducted in English
Implement systems to ensure sales and marketing programs achieve projected results
Understand, utilize and supervise the installation of automated sales and reservations systems
Nice to have:
