The Commercial Casework Estimator is responsible for developing accurate cost calculations to determine project pricing and profitability for the manufacture and installation of cabinets, casework, doors, frames, hardware, and millwork. This position plays a critical role in preparing competitive bids and proposals for projects across a range of commercial sectors, including multi-story developments, education, office, and government facilities.
Job Responsibility:
Read and interpret architectural blueprints and specifications related to cabinet and casework layout and design
Scale drawings and prepare detailed material take-offs for accurate bidding and pricing
Verify material and hardware costs, availability, and lead times
Identify and propose value engineering options to optimize cost and performance
Prepare and submit detailed quotations, bids, and cost breakdowns for work to be performed
Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineering, Sales, and Operations to ensure complete and accurate estimates
Assist in creating technical reports, subcontracts, purchase orders, project updates, and proposals
Identify and resolve deviations from proposals, including scope, specifications, or pricing
Maintain a strong understanding of industry vendors, materials, and manufacturing processes
Support bid preparation for new contracts and assist buyers with sourcing and procurement needs
Maintain consistent and dependable attendance, with flexibility to accommodate project deadlines and dynamic schedules
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required
Associate degree in a technical or construction-related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience
2+ years of experience in commercial estimating, preferably within cabinetry, millwork, or construction manufacturing
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, blueprints, and project specifications
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
Knowledge of the commercial construction industry, estimating practices, and project management concepts
Familiarity with woodworking materials, cabinet components, and related hardware
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
Effective communication and collaboration skills
Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to shifting priorities and deadlines
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Ability to meet deadlines and deliver accurate estimates under pressure
Regular and reliable attendance
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English
Nice to have:
Experience with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, or CRM software is a plus
