Job Description:

Manage the recently established Citi Commercial Bank business in Canada. This role entails responsibility for developing and executing the business strategy for CCB in Canada and responsibility for the full P&L of the business to ensure sustainable and predictable earnings and excellent client experience. All of this must be achieved within a sound control environment in which the business operates.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage the recently established Citi Commercial Bank business in Canada
  • Develop and execute the business strategy for CCB in Canada
  • Full responsibility for the P&L of the business
  • Expand the CCB platform in Canada
  • Focus on new business development - acquire new, multi-product clients for the Bank and manage those relationships
  • Grow market share in our key industries
  • Develop a deep understanding of the local market and build long lasting relationships with clients and local authorities
  • Establish pricing policies
  • Responsibility for quality of the credit portfolio
  • Partner with Independent Risk to ensure the right credit approach is in place
  • Own, develop and maintain internal policies and procedures
  • Recruit, build out, manage, and motivate the team
  • Talent development, coaching and counselling of staff
  • Alignment and close partnership / collaboration with product partners and other Citi coverage teams
  • Partner with Operations and Technology to ensure product delivery and excellent service
  • Represent CCB on internal governance committees in Canada
  • Ensure sound quality of the credit portfolio and full compliance with credit policies and ensure a safe and sound control environment

Requirements:

  • Minimum of ten years of corporate / commercial banking experience with meaningful experience operating in Canada
  • Direct lending or credit support related experience, with a focus on business relationships
  • Business builder capable of creating vision and motivating the team
  • Canadian market knowledge and experience preferable
  • Proven track record of successfully managing a complex business with P&L management experience
  • Solid understanding of the different banking products
  • Superior knowledge and experience in credit risk management and structuring
  • Highly focused, able to rapidly determine key priorities, clearly communicate those priorities and ensure resources are properly aligned
  • Proven leadership ability with excellent interpersonal communication skills at all levels
  • Excellent client interaction skills, having worked with clients operating in different industries
  • Strong execution skills
  • Sharp business focus, demonstrating innovative approaches and entrepreneurial mindset
  • Highly effective influencing skills
  • Sound decision making
  • Superior organizational skills, excellent written and presentation skills
