Job Description

The city of Woburn seeks qualified candidates for the position of Commercial Appraiser Level l in the Assessing Department.

Job Responsibility

  • Works under the direction of the Board of Assessors and Chief Appraiser
  • Directly involved in all processes to value all properties in the city of Woburn for the city’s five-year MA DOR certification, interim year certification, MA Appellate Tax Board cases and other related matters

Requirements

  • Knowledge of real and personal property appraisal practices, laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of mass appraisal valuation systems and Massachusetts certification standards and statutes
  • Maintaining accurate records of properties by determining ownership, performing field inspections and measurements of properties
  • Interprets deeds, assessment maps, recorded plans to determine property ownership and development feasibility of real property
  • Assists and processes taxpayer’s requests relating to real property, personal property, property exemptions and excise tax
  • Review and complete all in-person, written and/or electronic inquiries from taxpayers relating to commercial, industrial, mixed use and other income related properties
